Director Innovation, Transurban North America
Lev Pinelis has over fifteen years of comprehensive experience in the tolling and transportation systems industries working in strategic planning, technology development, operations and innovation with emerging solutions. He currently serves as the Director of Innovation for Transurban North America, where he oversees the strategy and implementation of emerging technology programs, including new Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Smart Mobility solutions on Transurban’s North American toll road facilities. Prior to joining Transurban in 2010, Lev helped pioneer Express Lanes projects in the Washington, DC region, leading engineering and management for the development, delivery and operations of the dynamically priced tolling system. He began his career as a Transportation Systems Engineer and consultant with IBI group, where he focused on tolling systems design, testing, operations, and analysis. He also developed USDOT sponsored Connected Vehicle prototype projects while with Battelle. Lev holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Carnegie University and a Master of Science in Transportation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia and a founding member and chairperson of the IBTTA Connected, Automated, Shared and Electric (CASE) Vehicle working group. Lev is based in Northern Virginia USA, just outside of Washington DC.
