With more than ten global patents in the automotive industry, Zikang speaks three languages and has a big passion for e-mobility and intelligent engineering systems with an emphasis on autonomous vehicles. Born and raised in China, he studied and worked in Germany, and since 2014, has worked and lived in the US. Zikang lead series and advanced R&D programs of high volume (over 1 million p.a.) for power electronics control systems, the capacitive sensor Handsfree Access system (HFA) using ASIC and sensor networking and power backdoor system on various platforms for Daimler, Rolls-Royce, Audi, BMW, GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda and Nissan, served on lead system level development (V-model, CAN/LIN bus, OBDII, Vector Canape/Canoe, DOORs / Synergy, AUTOSAR, HIL), the validation of functional safety per ISO 26262, support DFMEA, quality gates per TS16949, and warranty analysis (8D). He is recognized as Brose’s global expert on Handsfree Access system and Electrical wiring harness design and provides training globally to company CAD key users on 3D installation space analysis, electrical harness installation (EHI) and methodology. He strongly believes that the future of vehicles will be fully autonomous and joined the Detroit Autonomous Vehicle Group (DAVG) in 2017 as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO).
